Hydroelectric power is attracting attention as a clean energy source that does not emit carbon dioxide. The subsidiary of Furukawa Electric, Furukawa Nikko Power Generation Inc. has been generating hydroelectric power using the water flow from Lake Chuzenji, which is famous for Kegon Falls, for more than a century. At Nikko Works, most of the required electricity has been covered by hydroelectric power generation. Copper alloy products and superconducting products are certified and registered as environmentally friendly products of the Group because the electricity used in the manufacturing processes at Nikko Works has been covered with renewable energy (hydroelectric power generation).
